20th June - 21st June 2026 | 10:00am-4:00pm
Watch armoured knights and powerful warhorses charge into battle in a thrilling recreation of a 15th and 16th century joust. With real competition, real skill and no predetermined outcome, this is a day of courage, pageantry and unforgettable entertainment for all ages.
Jousting Knights, Courage & Pageantry
Jousting traces its roots back to the battlefields of Europe, where cavalry units tested their skills against one another. Over time, these contests evolved from large open-field competitions into the iconic one-on-one spectacle we know today.
Jousting became a grand event filled with colour, music, showmanship and skill, capturing the imagination of generations and continuing to inspire audiences through films, television and live events.
This Father's Day weekend, Scone Palace will be transformed into a medieval tournament field, where four armoured jousters and their horses thunder towards one another in a spectacular display of skill and bravery.
Expect:
- Trumpet calls and medieval atmospher
- Colourful displays and historic storytelling
- The clash of lances and cheering crowds
- Incredible horsemanship
- Armoured combat and tournament action
Tournaments were the blockbuster entertainment of their time - part sport, part theatre and part contest of honour - and visitors can experience all the drama of days gone by.
A Perth vs Perth Showdown!
The setting could hardly be more fitting. Scone Palace stands on the historic site where James IV was crowned King of Scots in 1488. Inspired by the Stewart era, this year's tournament explores themes of honour, loyalty and consequence that would have shaped medieval court life.
Adding an exciting modern twist, international rivalry enters the arena as challengers representing Perth, Australia face Scotland's champions in a thrilling Perth versus Perth Showdown. Who will claim victory and become Tournament Champion?
