Welcome to Scone Palace, home of the 9th Earl and Countess of Mansfield. It has been the family home of the Murrays for nearly 400 years. As the Crowning Place of Scottish Kings and the original home of the Stone of Scone, great ceremonies and affairs of state have been conducted here. During its lifetime, Scone has played an integral role in both the political and religious progression of Scotland. Although still a much-loved family home, Scone continues to provide a secure livelihood for the many who live locally. Today it also offers a unique first-hand experience of Scotland’s heritage to the thousands who visit us each year. As you walk through the rooms, you will notice Palace Guides wearing blue jumpers and Murray of Tullibardine tartan skirts, sashes or ties. Please approach them if you have any questions or would like to hear any stories.

As the palace is a private home, photography and video are not allowed, even without a flash. Large backpacks and rucksacks are also not allowed. Please return them to your vehicle or give them to the Guide on the door who will store them whilst you visit the palace.

We hope you enjoy your visit with us today.
