The countdown is now on for the Scone Palace Garden Fair - and do we have a blooming marvellous show for you?!

Book your tickets now and join us for a weekend of floral fabulousness as we celebrate all things gardening. We’ve collated our top five things to do and see at the event, which is now in its second year.

1. Treat Your Garden To Some Beautiful Blooms And Fabulous Florals

As well as offering up an array of beautiful, top-quality plants and flowers from the country's leading plant nurseries, garden centres and societies, there will also be garden-related crafts, and outdoor furniture for sale.

There will be a plant creche manned by Trellis allowing you to leave your plants while you explore the grounds - or go back for more! - and members of the Scottish Air Ambulance volunteers will be on hand with their buggies should you need help back to the car park with all your purchases.

2. Vote For Your Favourite In The Scottish Garden Design Competition

All visitors to the event on Friday 2nd June are invited to help judge the inaugural Scottish Garden Design Competition. Aimed at showcasing Scotland’s horticultural talent, the competition was launched in January 2023, and invited anyone with a love of gardening to design a small plot, themed to their choosing.

Finalists were selected by a panel of judges including Dougal Philip and Lesley Watson, best known for their judging work at the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s show gardens at Chelsea and Hampton Gardens – and all ten will be showcasing their final gardens the event.

A diverse range of designs have made the final ten, including one a look to the future of Scottish gardens as weather conditions change; an inspired crevice garden using sandstone and rockery plants; and a twilight garden, designed to capture the beauty of the Scottish gloaming.

Two Scottish Garden Design Awards are up for grabs; Best Border Plot which will be judged and awarded prior to gates opening at 10am, and The People’s Choice Award which will be decided by visitors to the event on Friday 2nd June, and presented at 1pm by Lady Mansfield.

3. Grow Some New Skills and Plant Your Potential

Enthusiasts will enjoy a series of gardening talks and workshops including presentations from Carole Baxter and George Anderson, and an opportunity to meet presenters from BBC's Beechgrove Garden who will be around all weekend to offer advice and answer questions. And anyone interested in building a career in horticulture can speak with representatives from Scotland’s horticultural colleges.

4. Visit the Gardens and Grounds of Scone Palace

Access to the vast gardens and grounds surrounding Scone Palace is also included in the price allowing you to spend a few hours enjoying woodland walks and catching the late spring colour in the flower garden. We highly recommend a visit to giant conifers in the Victorian Pinetum, a tour of the Kitchen Garden, and an adventure through the Murray Star Maze.

5. Tuck Into Some Tasty Treats

We guarantee you’ll work up an appetite wandering the grounds and chatting to the experts, and have ensured a supply of tasty treats and lunches for you to enjoy. BBQ,, fish and fries, flatbed wraps and donuts, and hot and cold drinks will all be available from our catering trucks. Plus, a special appearance by Ruby the Campervan brings with it plenty of Pimm’s and Prosecco!

Of course, our Old Servants' Hall Coffee Shop will also be open, serving delicious home baking and tasty savoury snacks throughout the day, including a range of sandwiches freshly prepared on the premises each day. We grow our own produce in the Walled Garden, so there is an especially short supply route for the ingredients on our rotating seasonal menus. Look out for featured produce for a hyper-local treat.
